FIRST Robotics team 1699
meets at Bacon Academy High School in Colchester, CT. The Robocats
started in 2005 under the direction of Keith Deslandes and the

comprising of only a few kids meeting at Mr. D's house and building the
robot in his garage.
Today our team has expanded to about 30 members,
started the towns FIRST Lego League Team and the school has opened up
it's auto-tech shops for our use! Our team has been to the Hartford

| What is FIRST?
FIRST (For the Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology)
was founded by Dean Kamen in 1989. His vision was to create a sport
that teaches kids the wonders of science and technology and inspiring
the engineers of tomorrow. The league focuses heavily on sportsmanship
rather than winning. Though being the champion of the years game is a
high achievement, the highest award in the FIRST league is the
Chairman's Award, awarded to the team with the best representation of
FIRST spirit. FIRST has three leagues that it runs, FLL (FIRST Lego
League), FTC (FIRST Tech Challenge) and FRC (FIRST Robotics
Competition). Today, FIRST is quickly growing and is opening up regionals everywhere worldwide. For more info, click our
